With a Bachelor of Laws and advanced studies in European Union law, International Investment Law, and business management for in-house lawyers from prestigious schools such as King’s College London and the University of Salzburg, Joana brings more than 10 years of experience across several legal jurisdictions.

In her most recent role at Afiniti, an AI-tech startup, she oversaw a global IP portfolio, ensured data compliance with data privacy laws, and negotiated and drafted commercial contracts agreements for cross-border clients. 

Fluent in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish, Joana brings not only linguistic skill but cultural sensitivity to the legal issues that arise across jurisdictions—an asset in today’s interconnected legal landscape.

Her dedication to precision, integrity, and meaningful legal innovation has been recognized through distinctions such as the FBE International LegalTech Competition and the FBE International Contract Competition. Joana’s written work has been widely published, reflecting her commitment to advancing clarity in legal discourse.

Today, alongside her broader legal expertise, Joana channels her experience into supporting law firms and professionals worldwide with high-quality legal writing and strategic communication.

She is proudly registered with the Portuguese Bar Association and and actively contributes to the legal community through her involvement with the New Technologies and IP Law commissions of the Fédération des Barreaux d'Europe (“FBE”).
